Geelani activates Jamaat to prolong Kashmir unrest
9/30/2016 11:32:27 PM
Early Times Report
jammu, Sept 30: As the war euphoria has gripped Jammu and Kashmir the separatists in the Valley are trying to change their strategy by activating the Jamaat cadres spread across Kashmir.
Sources told Early Times the Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani has asked the Jamaat leaders to activate their men so that prevailing unrest is dragged further. "People defying the protest calendar has sent Geelani and company into tizzy. Three month long unrest is slowly coming to an end and people are fed up with daily shutdowns and strikes," they added.
Insiders revealed to begin with Jamaat activists in many areas offered funeral prayers in absentia for two Pakistani soldiers killed in the surgical strikes carried out by India. These prayers were offered in a few areas of Srinagar and a few villages on Friday. "Offering funeral prayers in absentia is nothing more than a ploy to instigate the security forces and nationalist elements so that a few more killings take place and pot keeps boiling," said a source.
He said Geelani has realized that his protests calendar has lost relevance and no one is interested in chalos and raising slogans. "The goons which were hired by these separatists are cooling their heels behind the bars. There are limited options available with the separatists and they are trying to explore them," the source added.
A Kashmir watcher said, "India carrying out surgical strikes in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and teaching a lesson to terrorists has rattled the separatists in Kashmir. Geelani who was claiming that Kashmir is close toAzadi is issuing vague statements these days. He seems to have lost the plot."
Sources said that Jamaat activists who are responsible for the radicalization of Kashmiri youth have sought time from Geelani to organize themselves so that they can look for new recruits who can hit the streets and orchestrate the protests.
An analyst said, "The war euphoria and Pakistan getting shaken by the surgical strikes carried out by India has punctured the rhetoric which Pakistan leaders were indulging in during the past few weeks. India taking a hard stand has created ripples in Pakistan. Just 150 Indian soldiers entering into PoK has terrified the Pakistan and its rulers and they have started talking about nuclear weapons and nuclear warfare. Pakistani leaders know it very well that their Army cannot match the strengths of Indian Army and if India launches a counter offensive there is every possibility about Pakistan disappearing from the world map and would cease to exist."
Sources within the JK Police revealed that Police and other security agencies are monitoring the activities of Jamaat activists. "Many Jamaat-i-Islami activists who were found involved in the recent protests have been booked and arrested. A few who are out are just paper tigers and cannot do anything. Police have identified the people who organized the funeral prayers in absentia for Paksitani soldiers killed yesterday. Very soon they will be behind the bars," police sources said.
They maintained that overall situation in Kashmir is improving and normalcy would be restored soon.
