Early Times Report

Poonch, Sept 20: More than 300 terrorists are still said to be active across the Line of Control (LoC) and are waiting for a moment to infiltrate to this side to carry out Uri like attacks, said Intelligence sources here today. Well informed sources, said, "the terrorists in large number upto 300 still are awaiting for a chance to infiltrate this side of border and using all tactics to sneak into Indian side. "Be it Over Ground Workers (OGWs) or may it be sleeper cells, the terrorists are using all means to dump arms and ammunition in villages situated in close vicinity of border, sources said, adding, "however alert security personnel manning the LoC have thwarted many such attempts in previous year and also had foiled many infiltration bids of armed intruders till date in this year." Sources said, "As per inputs the number of terrorists at the launching pads always go changing, because they (terrorists) do not stay permanently at one launch pad due to instructions of the terror mentors who always keep them shifting so that if they miss to sneak Indian side from one launch pad perhaps they might succeed to infiltrate from the other launch pad." Sources said according to the rough figures there are 250 to 300 militants across the LoC at the launch pads, waiting to infiltrate and these are figures just on the Jammu side. Sources also said in the background of recent surgical strikes on seven launch pads situated along LoC in Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Thursday, the terror mentors might have pulled out the terrorist awaiting on various launch pads and wait for some time."Meanwhile keeping in view the recent displacement from border villages as per due instructions from the central government to vacate border villages within the range of 10 kms from LoC or International Border, the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mendhar Thakur Sher Singh today along with Tehsildar Shehzad Khan and others visited several areas close to border in Mendhar. During his visit SDM Mendhar interacted with the locals and assured them that there is no need to worry government has its contingency plan to meet any eventuality while the army in the area too is alert to ensure their safety in case of any counter reaction from Pakistan after surgical strikes carried out by the army.
