Syllabi to be reduced to help students appearing in exams
10/20/2016 10:15:11 PM
The coalition Government
is trying to help students of
various courses so that they do not lose the current academic year. The reason being that for over 100 days educational institutions remained shut because of turmoil, violence and the repeated calls from separatists to close the offices and the educational institutions. Not only this as a result of separatists repeated calls for shutdowns had paralysed normal life in the Kahsmir valley.Hence the Government is planning to adopt a liberal view so that students do not face any loss. In this case the Minister for Education Naeem Akhtar has said the government was considering various options for easing the burden of students who are going to appear in the forthcoming secondary and higher secondary examinations. sSpeaking to a delegation of students, the Minister said government is exploring various options to provide some sort of relaxation to students. He said that it can be introduction of more choices in question papers, reduction in syllabus or other such options. The decision in this regard will be soon announced, he said.
The Minister said the students should prepare for the forthcoming examinations. He assured the students that the government is aware of the hardships faced by the student community. He told the students that examinations are being conducted for their own good so that their academic year is not lost and they get maximum time for preparing for future competitive examinations. Mehbooba Mufti seems to be upset with the upcoming examinations and she made it clear that the upcoming board exams will be held as per schedule."Government is exploring various options in consultation with the Education Department, State Board of School Education (BOSE) and other stakeholders to ensure you have more options and your academic year is not lost," the chief minister told the students from different schools of the city who called on her Mehbooba said the examinations will be held as per the already announced schedule.
She assured the students that the government will arrange special coaching classes to help them prepare for various competitive examinations like CET, NEET and JEE.She said even during the prevailing disturbances, several examinations including competitive tests were conducted successfully and the students appeared in such exams overwhelmingly This way the Government is quite keen to make various arrangements for enabling the student community to appear the annual examinations. Indications are that the syllabus for each subject would be reduced with the result paper setters will be asked to frame question paper as per the reduced syllabus..This is what the student community wants and most of them are not in favour of giving various options in the question papers. Mehbooba and Akhtar know it well that academic loss could affect the future generation and demoralize the student community.
