Teacher resorts to corporal punishment, 2 boys injured

Poonch, Oct 20: A strong resentment is brewing among locals and family members of the two students of Class V and Class IV who were subjected to corporal punishment by their teacher in a private school today leaving both injured, sources said
According locals, Arbaz Khan son of Imtiaz Khan studying Class V and Raheem Khan son of Shehnaz Khan of Class IV both residents of Gultah were mercilessly beaten by their Islamic Study subject teacher Sami Ullah at Public Educational Trust, Harni unless duo bled.
"On seeing the boy shattered and bleeding, the parents of two children become furious and reached to his house who is also resident of same area to inquire why did he subjected extreme punishment to the boys," local reports said. Eyewitness said the teacher along with his other relatives pelted stones on them instead giving clarification which further annoyed the family members and locals of the area. "The accused teachers family chased the aggrieved parents by resorted to stone pelting on them," he added. Local alleged that though the incident took place just in front of Police Station Harni but police failed to take any action at that time. While talking to Sub Divisional Police officer (SDPO) Mendhar, Shahid Nayeem told Early Times that the matter is under investigation and FIR is yet to be lodged. Meanwhile locals of the area have urged the district authorities that school teacher's approach to deal with children is not tolerable as despite the corporal punishment is banned he subjected the children to this besides giving them a mental trauma so he should be terminated immediately.
Agitated locals also demanded such educational institutions which promote such elements should also be closed so that no one is indulged in unlawful activities.
