Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 20: Humming Buds, the ISO 9001:2008 certified Preschool Chain of Model Academy organized the "Growing Minds - Understanding and Supporting Your Child's Mental Growth", for the parents of its pre-schoolers. The purpose of the sensitization program was to create awareness amongst parents on the process of early-childhood learning through scientific data and prior researches.
Project Director, Ruchika Gupta welcomed the Chief Guest, Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER and the parents. She explained how it is imperative to create a conducive learning environment for kids based on three principles of early child development namely, Individuality, Curiosity and Creativity.
The function started with a prayer service which had children performing on all the four religions dressed as - Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christians. Children beautifully depicted the message that God is one and religious harmony needs to be preserved.
This was followed by a Phonic song.
During the sensitization program, it was stressed that to cultivate good English speaking skills among small children it is imperative that parents speak to them in English on a frequent basis to augment the learning in the pre-school.
The students of humming buds then narrated short stories in English to display their command over the language, which was much appreciated by the parents.
Being the Dyslexia awareness week, Special children from the Inclusive School at MIER which is the first of its kind in J&K, performed on the National theme and this was followed by a presentation by Harika Singh, Incharge Inclusive School and Dr. Rohnika Sharma, HOD B.Ed. Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER, commended the team at Humming Buds on an excellent event. She opined that an open platform needs to be created for children to express themselves and nurture their creative instincts through non-formal methods.
