Jammu, Oct 21: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) organized the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) sponsored National Seminar on "Performance Assessment and Benchmarking of Higher Education Institutions" today. Prof. A.S Brar, Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar and Executive Committee Member, NAAC was the Chief Guest on the occasion, while Avik Mitra, Senior Advisor, Quality Council of India and Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Director, DIQA, University of Jammu were the Guests of Honor. The two-day seminar shall focus on evolving novel models for assessing and benchmarking higher education institutions in India. Over 40 research papers shall be presented during both days by researchers from various institutions such as University of Jammu, Central University of Jammu, Pune University, SMVDU, Govt. College for Women Parade, MIER College of Education and MIET. Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director, MIET welcomed the dignitaries and participants. Prof. Arun K. Gupta, Chairman of the MIER Group in his opening remarks described the theme of the seminar as timely and relevant. He felt that new and credible mechanisms which work in the Indian context need to be evolved to keep pace with global institutions and effectively meet the expectations of the new generation of learners. Avik Mitra from the Quality Council of India delivered the inaugural keynote address on the risks and challenges in the auditing process, stressing the need for customization over standardization for achieving better results. In his presidential address, Prof AS Brar, highlighted the shortcomings in the current models of academic and administrative audit adopted by national bodies such as NAAC and NBA. |
