NC continues witch-hunt on Kashmir by targeting Govt | | | Early Times Report
jammu, Oct 22: National Conference (NC) is doing witch-hunt on Kashmir issue by levelling wild allegations against Government. The Party which has come under sharp criticism from BJP, Shiv Sena and other nationalist parties for its bid to give an ugly turn to Kashmir issue has asked Government to refrain from suppressing Kashmiris. The Statement has come from none other than NC patriarch, Dr Farooq Abdullah who during his tenure as Chief Minister has ardently opposed terrorism and Pakistan. Farooq Abdullah as CM has taken a principled stand against Pakistan and terrorism. However sudden change in Dr Abdullah's stand has not come as a surprise to nationalists who say it was expected from him and his organisation. Dr Abdullah is forced to make statements targeting the Government both at Centre and State and blaming it for present crisis. This way he forgets that it was during his tenure as Chief Minister of the State in 1989-90 when gun came to Kashmir and terrorists targeted Pandit minorities and nationalist Muslims as well as leaders of political parties. Entire Pandit Community was forced to flee from Kashmir during this period and take refuge outside Valley for their safety and security. This was opined by political analysts in the State while commenting on statements of NC leadership including Dr Abdullah. Political analysts while taking a dig at Dr Abdullah said instead of playing politics he and his party should take a principled stand on Kashmir and support every action of Government aimed at weeding out terrorism from the State to restore peace. Moreover instead of asking Govt to refrain from suppressing Kashmiris , NC leaders should campaign and launch a movement against terrorism. The analysts say NC is dutybound to do it as it is the NC which was first instrumental in accession with India challenged the same in 1952-53 and started revolt against Delhi. This way the Party that misled the millions of Kashmiris who still believe that accession was temporary which is not a fact.
