NSF celebrates 116th birth anniversary of Ashfaqulla Khan

JAMMU, Oct 22: National Secular Forum (NSF), University Unit organized a programmed in University Campus and on the birth anniversary of Ashfaqulla Khan who laid his life for the country. Amid slogans "Ashfaqulla Khan" inqulaab Zindabad" 'Bharat Mata ki jai", they paid tributes to Ashfaqulla Khan and garlanded the portraits of the son of soil.
Ankush Abrol JKCA working Committee Member , was the chief guest while, Dr.Vikas Sharma State President NSF, presided over the function and Sukhdev Singh Working President NSF was the guest of honour,
Dr.Vikas Sharma, while addressing on this occasion threw light on the life of Ashfaqulla Khan who was born on 22 October 1900 in Shahjahanpur a historical city of Uttar Pradesh. Ashfaq was in school when Mahatma Gandhi called the non co-operation movement. a Movement wherein he called the Indians not to pay taxes to the British and not to cooperate with the British government in any way. This call of Gandhiji had kindled the fire of freedom in the hearts of many, but the Chauri Chaura incident of 1922 where approx 22 policemen were burnt alive in a police station deeply saddened Gandhiji that he called off the Non-cooperation movement Sukhdev Singh recalled the planning capability, boldness and feeling of nationalism in martyr an Ashfaq and stressed upon the youth to follow his ideas. He appealed to the youth to come forward to eliminate all evils from the society.
