Jammu, Oct 22: About 60 projects were presented by the children of different schools of Jammu district in district Level National Children Science Congress (a program of NCSTC, DST, New Delhi) held at St.Peter's High School, B.C.Road, Jammu. The congress was organized by National Council for Urban and Rural Development Society, Jammu - a voluntary organization for promoting various science communication programs under Zaffar Ullah Khan, State coordinator, NCSC-J&K. About 300 participants (Children and Teachers) participated in the District Level Congress. The Congress was inaugurated by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Thomas Niri Bathu, St Peter's High School, B.C. Road, Jammu. In his inaugural address, he lauded the efforts of Sh.Zaffar Ullah Khan for promoting such programs in the interest of children of J&K. Such programme inculcate great interest among the students in teaching learning process especially in Science. Kuldeep Gupta, State Academic Coordinator, NCSC J&K gave brief account of the programme. He laid stress that such programs break the monotony of the routine classroom which enables the students to explore their talents by having innovative solutions of local societal problems. Earlier, Zeeshan Khan, District Coordinator Jammu NCSC welcomed the participants and briefed about the program. He gave various guidelines for presentation and evaluation of the projects to be presented in the Congress by child scientists. Dr Ashiq Hussain, Professor, Govt. Degree College, Kishtwar and also a member of Academic Committee NCSC, Jammu focused on that for proper understanding of concept in studies, learning by doing as the best method and the NCSC is a wonderful platform for the same. |
