Two gold medals for shreya in fencing nationals | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 22: In a rare achievement Shreya Gupta, a class 7th student of Presentation Convent Senior Secondary School, Jammu has won two gold medals in the recently concluded 13th Cadet and 18th Sub-Junior Fencing Championship in Gwalior. Her golden feat has helped Jammu and Kashmir girls team to win overall trophy in sub-junior category for the first time by beating champions Manipur. She is the first girl fencer of the state to win Gold in individual Sabre category and was instrumental in winning gold for the team category too and therefore her feat brought laurels to the state. Shreya has been a promising fencer of the state for last few years continuously winning medals at state and national levels. It is pertinent to add that in the last 12th Cadet and 17th Sub-Junior national championships held at Nanded, Maharashtra, she also won a silver medal in individual and bronze in team events. Shreya Gupta contributes her success to hard work and guidance of senior coach Shotu Lal and senior internationals players Ujjwal Gupta and Rashid Ahmed. Meanwhile, the state amateur fencing association has appreciated the efforts and achievements of Shreya Gupta and wishes her more accomplishments for the future. |
