Symposium organized on genetically modified crops | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 22: The Botany Department of GGM Science College organized one day Symposium on the topic "Genetically modified crops: Pros & Cons" in the Conference Hall of this college. According to press release, Prof. Bimla Devi convened the symposium and started the function by welcome address. Nodal Principal Dr. Ajeet Angral was the Chief Guest, Dr. Ranvijay Singh, Prof. Sunil K. Bhat and Prof. Sushma Mam judged the students on the basis of content and presentation. 15 students participated in the competition and discussed Genetically modified crops as the need of modern era. Genetic engineering techniques involved in making transgenics were briefly described and ethical issues associated with Genetically modified Crops were also put to limelight Mohd. Yassir Feroz, Raghu Rai Hastir and Karanvir Singh bagged 1st 2nd and 3rdPosition respectively. Dr. Ajeet Angral distributed prizes among the winners and applauded the students for their participation in such competitions raising the issues of today's concern. He further appreciated the efforts of Botany Department to organize such excellent competitions and boosting students to participate. The programme was compared by Prateek Sharma. In the end Prof. (Dr) Anuradha Pandoh delivered vote of thanks. Others who were present on the occasion were Prof. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Prof. Shma Vohra, Dr. Bharti Razdan, Dr. Neena Sharma and Dr. Neeti Chibber. |
