HC stays allotment of construction of Sulabh toilets | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 22: High court judge Janak Raj Kotwal has stayed the allotment order of construction of Sulabh toilets by JDA without any competition in the tendering process. The court directive came in a petition filed by Saral Sugam Sewa Society, challenging the JDA's allotment order for the construction of Sulabh toilets to Sulabh International Social Service Organisation without any competition in the process of tendering. The allotment order involved the construction of three toilet units in Jammu city. The petitioner alleged that the order was issued without inviting tenders and following procedure of law with regard to the allotment of works. It was alleged that the state or its agencies could not give largesse to any person and the allotment of construction work to the respondent was actuated with ulterior and malafide consideration. After hearing both the sides, Justice Kotwal found sufficient prima facie case for showing indulgence and issued notice to JDA and others and ordered that subject to objections and till next date before the bench, the impugned allotment orders issued on September 8, 2016, June 20, 2016 and May 20, 2016 would remain stayed and status quo as on today would be maintained (JNF). |
