Jammu, Oct 22: A bureaucrat, who remained in news for stirring the hornet's nest on many occasions, is reportedly running the transfer industry and taking important decisions of the department headed allegedly by his wife.
Sources told Early Times the bureaucrat, who was involved in multi-crore scandal has been calling shots in the department headed by his officer wife.
"All the deals are finalized by the bureaucrat rather than his officer wife. Besides, many important files of the department are also checked by the bureaucrat," sources said.
They said that for the transfer of officials in the department, the bureaucrat charges lakhs of rupees.
Before the last assembly elections in state, this self-proclaimed 'honest' bureaucrat was seen as close to senior BJP leader. After the BJP became the cabinet minister in the PDP-BJP coalition government, the bureaucrat got his wife transferred to his choicest department, where huge money is involved.
"During the previous National Conference-Congress regime, this bureaucrat had suffered a major blow due to open confrontation with a minister," sources said.
They said that all those files sought by the bureaucrat to make deals are brought to his residence where he takes decisions and his wife is only a rubber stamp.
"If government will initiate a preliminary enquiry into the matter, the involvement of this officer in the functioning of department can easily be unearthed," sources added. |
