Anti-Geelani demos continue | Transporters, Civil society members hold protest in Anantnag | | Saahil Suhail Early Times Report anantnag, Oct 22: Fed up with his strike calendars, a group of transporters and civil society members held a protest against Hurriyat's Syed Ali Shah Geelani here Saturday. According to eyewitness, the anti-Geelani protest was held inside the office of deputy commissioner here by the people, mostly drawn from the far-off places of Anantnag, against the Geelani's 'strike politics'. They also protested later outside the office of DIG, South Kashmir range, seeking government's intervention for bringing an end to the ongoing unrest. They also accused Geelani of spoiling the academic career of their wards. "We are against Geelani and other Hurriyat leaders who have put the career of our children at stake by giving continuous strike calls," a protester pleading anonymity said. He said Kashmir hadn't only lost its economy, but also employment and precious lives. Asking Hurriyat cadres to put an end to the continuous strike calendars, the protesters blamed Geelani for making the lives daily wagers and labourers a hell. "Geelani doesn't know how many poor people are facing hardships and problems because of the strikes," they asserted. |
