Anantnag, Oct 23: A violent mob on Sunday evening set ablaze a truck and a police cop's motorcycle in South Kashmir's Bijbehara area at two different places. Official sources said at about 5.50 pm, a group of youth started pelting stones on vehicles plying on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway at Pazalpora, Bijbehara, and disrupted vehicular movement. Angry youth forced a truck to stop and setit on fire, sources said. The truck, which was loaded with PVC material, caught fire and suffered partial damage, eyewitness told Early Times. A police official, confirming the incident, said the driver and the conductor of the truck escaped unhurt. Barely a few minutes later, another group of miscreants forcibly stopped a motorcyclist at Arwani Bijbehara. "When they found that he is a cop, they beat him to pulp and set ablaze his motorcycle," sources said. The law-enforcing agencies reached the two places and tried to disperse the violent mobs, resulting in clashes between them. When the miscreants tried to force the shutdown, forces lobbed tear smoke shells to disperse the mob and restore vehicular traffic. Meanwhile, security forces foiled the proposed 'Chee-Anchidora Chaloo' march and exercised maximum restrain while dealing with the protesters. |
