| Kashmir Centric Leaders Converge on Anti-India crusade & fuelling only unrest | | | Ravinder Jalali

Minister Dr. Abdullah convened a meeting of all opposition including CPI (M) and independent MLA Rashid who is by default anti-India, in Srinagar to find a solution to the Kashmir crisis. The fact of the matter is that they do not want any solution but want to be in the news and want to support unrest in Kashmir because it provides fodder to these idle politicians because the unrest is their creation. They have not even once appealed to the Kashmiris or the parents of the stone peletrs to desist from stone pelting. They always want a solution from centre but not dare once to ask the separatists to stop this madness and allow things to normalise. These opposition leaders have never called for an end to unrest. They only expect New Delhi to initiate. They do not co-operate the state Govt.; in turn they encourage unrest and want to prolong it.
18 soldiers of the Indian army have been martyred in Uri attack. It is one of the deadliest attacks on the Army in recent years. This is not the first incident and is not going to be the last. The Govt. vowed to bring the perpetrators of crime to book and punish those who were responsible for this ghastly act. Now the army under the instruction of government carried out surgical strikes on the launching pads of terrorists in POK and thee pseudo- nationals are crying wolf.
But with the every passing day the things are being complicated and politicised. The children of these separatists and the politicians of Kashmir based parties, irrespective of their ideology, do not participate in these stone pelting and even do not lead the protest so that they are not hit by any pellet or bullet. Some of their children are out side India and some are outside J&K, in other parts of India.
The mystery with the Kashmir politics is that, to be relevant in Kashmir one has to be anti -India and pro-Pakistan and how can the so called mainstream politicians lag behind. Kashmir centric leaders irrespective of their party affiliation and ideology converge on one single point of opposing the centre and the central forces just to be in the good books of the separatists and terrorists.
Opposition parties led by former Chief Minister Dr.Farooq Abdullah has appealed the GOI for resumption of talks between India and Pakistan for the resolution of Kashmir issue, knowing well that the both NC and Congress who has ruled the centre and state for major part of the period after independence, did not try to resolve the issue, now coming heavily on the Narinder Modi led Govt. to find a resolution to the Kashmir problem which is basically a communal problem and not a political as advocated by them. I feel amazed to hear from Dr. Abdullah that the India and Pakistan should sit together to hold talks. Had they been serious about the resolution of Kashmir problem, why they did not find it so far when both the NC and Congress were in power at the centre as well in state? Terming the situation in Kashmir as dangerous is ridiculous. When they are in power everything is normal and when they are out of power it becomes dangerous. I would like to remind that during Omar Abdullah rule in 2010, around 100 people died in stone pelting and the act was justified by the NC and defended the security forces.
The entire resolution of the NC led opposition, is just a booster dose to terrorism and to demoralise the forces. Had they been serious in wiping out terrorism they should have sought more surgical strikes to end terrorist camps in POK. Even they should have passed a resolution to go for one more surgical strike like US for the elimination of Hafiz Sayed or Masood Azhar but they are for restraining the strikes in POK. It seems as if they are the agents of Pakistan or ISI to pressurise GOI to stop such decisive acts to enable them to consolidate their position. These pseudo nationals and seculars seem to be supporter of Hurriyat, which is an off shoot of Pak and ISI.
It is also unfortunate to see that Farooq Abdullah led opposition levelling charges against security forces from vandalising homes and harassment of inmates. It is a cheap publicity to be in lime light. I would like to correct Abdullah that the Kashmir problem is just a communal problem and not a political problem and Hurriyat has no locus-standi in the Kashmir affairs and those who support Hurriyat are themselves subscribing to the agenda of separatists which is anti India and for the cessation of Kashmir to Pakistan. If these opposition parties wants to involve Hurriyat into talks, then whom they are representing? Let Farooq Abdullah led NC join Hurriyat as so many parties are there and let NC be one more faction of Hurriyat conference and then his utterances have some weight otherwise it does not make any sense.
The opposition parties have demanded a commission headed by retired SC judge to probe the deaths and loss of eyesight due to use of pellet guns in Kashmir and find who is responsible. I would like to ask opposition why they did not ask or set up themselves, when they were in power, a commission to know the reasons for the mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from valley. Have you ever wanted to book the culprits who were responsible for the ghastly act of barbarism and cruelty like Chitisinghpora, Wandhama, and Nadimarg? You are the people who are hell bent upon opposing the return of KPs to their homes and call yourself seculars. You should be ashamed of yourself for calling yourself as seculars and liberals. You are only igniting communalism to serve your own ends. All these leaders and politician are Nationalists so long they are in power and money remains flowing in from the centre and when the flow stops, the tone and tenor of these leaders gets changed. The opposition has also sought the withdrawal of cases against the stone pelters and release of those who were arrested recently in the current unrest. These stone pelters are no ordinary boys but are pro-Pakistani and are paid for stone throwing.
Former Chief Minster Omar Abdullah is having pro-terrorist tone in the valley and questions Mehbooba on the governance. He has no moral right to give dry sermons to her when in 2009 and 2010 more than 100 people died during his rule. They have cheated the masses since independence by having double standard. PDP replaced NC and Congress just to grab power and nothing else. After all they have the common goal of getting power. |
