Pak agencies continue to derail peace in J&K
10/24/2016 10:23:22 PM

The situation in the Kashmir valley continues to be fluid. And what is amazing is that while Jammu has remained peaceful it is the Pakistani troops that play some mischief in the region of Jammu so that in the entire situation peace gets derailed. On one hand one is watching the house to house search operations being carried out in Kupwara following an input from the intelligence agency that a terror group has carved out a hiding place and is keen to resort to some act of violence,on the other hand Pakistan Rangers have again violated the ceasefire in which one Pak Rangers was killed and one Indian BSF was injured. In each such ceasefire violations the Indian retaliation is full of force and fury with the result Pakistan suffers maximum damage. What is equally amazing is the way Pakistan resorts to unprovoked ceasefire violation and when the Pak forces suffer maximum losses the Pak guns fall silent. Even if Pak guns roar for an hour of two the roar scares people away from the border areas.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is trying to cash on the sentiments of people and has said the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) is not permanent in Jammu and Kashmir, adding the same can be revoked provided an environment of peace and tranquillity is created.Speaking at the Police Commemoration Day parade, Mehbooba said, "We have to create an environment of peace and tranquillity in Jammu and Kashmir, AFSPA is not permanent."Speaking over the outrage which enveloped the Kashmir valley post the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, Mufti urged for a need to stop terrorism. Mehbooba want to ban pellet guns but it is possible only if people support the government. Children in Kashmir are always used as shields. The Government can't force someone to talk by throwing stones on them. If India is interested in the process of dialogue, the Government has to stop terrorism," she said.Mehbooba further took on Pakistan over its move to ban Indian content in its territory and said, "Even Pakistan has to help us as we both have to live together. We discuss about films but Wagah border is still moving.
This is a sound suggestion and if people listen to it and act upon her advice peace cannot be a distant dream in Kashmir.More than people it is the separatists, Pakistani agencies, the Army and the ISI, and the non-state actors besides terrorists who are responsible for the derailment of peace in Kashmir. People want an excuse and during the last 27 years more than 25,000 militants, including commanders, have been killed but why violence has followed the killing of Burhan Wani ? It was all a stage managed show that was played by Pakistan, its agencies, separatists and militants. With the result simple and innocent people in Kashmir, especially the youth, were misled and were asked if they resort to violence Azadi could be round the corner. And despite the fact that over 100 days have passed Azadi is no where seen. This way it is exploitation of innocent people and now those 12 employees who were sacked on charge of having indulged in anti-national activities can have to seek alms from Geelani and others.
