PHE casual employees stage protest, demands redressal of demands

Jammu, Oct 24: The PHE workers held strong protest demonstration followed by day long dharna in the office complex of Chief Engineer, PHE at BC Road here today.
A large number of workers of various cadre under the banner of PHE Workers Welfare Association led Shiv Kumar Sharma, the State President of INTUC and the Provincial President of the Association assembled in the PHE office complex at B C Road this morning and started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans in support of their pending demands and other burning issues of permanent field operational staff. While speaking on the occasion, Shiv Kumar Sharma the President of the Association criticized the higher authorities in the department to ignore the genuine and legitimate issues of the employees. Keeping in view the inflation, he said that the matter of pending wages in arrears was a cruel joke on the working class and this section is still waiting for their long pending wages even during the festivals.
Sharma demanded to restore the functioning of the nonfunctional PHE workshops and suggested authorities to post technical staff to streamline their functioning.
The Association also submitted a Charter of Demands to the Chief Engineer PHE Department Jammu for immediately consideration of long pending demands pertaining to the PHE Workers and PHE Employees.
Association has presented several representations to the higher authorities with regard to their demands and also held meetings with the senior officers but they remained unmoved. The employees are being forced to launch agitational path.
Prominent among others who addressed the gathering were Raman Kumar, Ajay Sharma, Madan Lai, Radhay Shyam Balbader Raj, Man gal Dass, Ashok Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Ram Paul Saini, Ghulam Nabi, Madan Lai, Rajinder Kumar, Hans Raj, Joginder Pal, Bhadur Singh, Avtar Singh, Jyoti Kumar, Naresh Kumar, Parshotam Kumar and others.
