Police cracks whip on miscreants, arrests 15 involved in burning of vehicles

SRINAGAR, Oct 24: Carrying out a full-fledged crackdown against miscreants involved in various acts of arson during the 107 day long Kashmir unrest the Jammu & Kashmir Police has so far arrested 15 miscreants while as seven such persons are absconding.
Addressing a press conference here, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Central Kashmir Range, Ghulam Hassan Bhat said that the miscreants arrested were involved in torching of more than one dozen vehicles in the central range of Kashmir valley.
The DIG said that efforts are on to nab the other miscreants involved in such acts. "We have so far arrested 15 miscreants found involved in the burning of 13 vehicles during the past three months in Srinagar and Budgam. On October 17 two Tata Sumos bearing registration number JK09-9209 and JK05-5863 were set ablaze at Fruit Mandi Parimpora.
FIR number 231/2016 was registered at police station Parimpora. Three accused namely Mohsin Nisar Bhat resident of Parimpora, Mohsin Zahoor Mir resident of Parimpora and Zaid alias Raju resident of Gulbagh, Parimpora involved in this offence have been arrested while as one is still absconding," said DIG.
Bhat said that on September 11 one motorcycle bearing registration number JK01F-4307 was set ablaze at Awanta Bhawan, Soura. He said that FIR number 106/2016 was registered at police station Soura and one accused namely Faizan Afzal Beigh resident of Awanta Bhawan has been arrested.
"On August 7 one Chota Hathi (load carrier) was set ablaze at Bazaar Batmaloo. FIR number 104/2016 was registered at police station Batmaloo and one accused namely Fayaz Ahmad Dar resident of Firdousabad was arrested.
On September 23 one motorcycle bearing registration number JK22-9362 was set ablaze at Batmaloo. FIR No. 124/2016 was registered at police station Batmaloo and two accused namely Showkat Ahmad resident of Firdousabad-Batmaloo and Zahid Ahmad Sheikh resident of Dandarkhah were arrested," said DIG.
Bhat said that on August 15 a road roller was set ablaze at Reki Chowk Batmaloo with FIR number 108/2016 being registered at police station Batmaloo. He said that an accused namely Altaf Ahmad Dar resident of Firdousabad-Batmaloo has been arrested. He said that on September 21 a motorcycle bearing registration number JK01H-3807 was set ablaze at Nawab Bazar. FIR number 87/2016 was registered at police station M R Gunj and three accused namely Ishfaq Nabi Sheikh resident of Kaksathu-Jamalatta, Junaid Ahmad and Aqib Ahmad residents of Maharaj Gunj were arrested.
"On October 4 an auto-rickshaw bearing registration number JK01X-4429 was set ablaze at Saida Kadal. FIR number 102/2016 was registered at police station Rainawari and accused namely Shadab Hassan Gadyari has been arrested. On the same day another auto-rickshaw bearing registration number JK01H-7913 was set ablaze at Babademb, Khanyar. FIR number 34/2016 was registered at police station Kralkhud," said DIG.
Bhat said that on October 9 a Scooty was set ablaze at Gojwara Chowk with FIR number 107/2016 being registered at police station Nowhatta. He said that two accused namely Sarfaraz Ahmad Sheikh and Ramiz Ahmad Matoo resident of Gojwara were arrested while as four others are absconding.
"On August 25 a Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK01L-8415 was set ablaze at Nowshera. FIR number 99/2016 was registered at police station Soura. On July 9 a motorcycle bearing registration number JK01V-8609 was set ablaze at Nundreshi Colony, Bemina. FIR number 86/2016 was registered at police station Batmaloo. On October 10 two cars bearing registration number JK01AB 0103 (Swift) and JK01N 6690 (Estilo) were set ablaze at Goripora, Hyderpora. FIR number 307/2016 was registered at police station Budgam," said DIG.
