Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 24: State leadership of the BJP has reportedly sabotaged the move to pass a resolution to grant UT status to Ladakh in the working committee meeting of the Leh district of BJP which held on Sunday at Leh. There is resentment among party workers for not placing the resolution of UT in the working committee meeting.
Credible sources in the party said that Leh district of BJP had drafted a detailed resolution on granting UT status to Ladakh. It was decided that the same would be placed before the working committee for approval.
Sources said that some state level leaders including some ministers had sabotaged the move the place the same resolution in the working committee because PDP, with which BJP is running the coalition, is not in favour of granting UT status to Ladakh. State BJP leaders and ministers do not want to irritate PDP so they decided to gag wishes and aspirations of the people of Ladakh just for power. People of Ladakh had voted BJP in Lok Sabha and LAHDC Leh elections only becaue the party had promised to grant UT status to Ladakh. After becoming part of the power, BJP has started now betrying people of Ladakh on this issue.
According to BJP press release BJP State President alongwith State General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Kaul, State General Secretary Harinder Gupta, Member of Parliament Thumpstan Chhewang and LAHDC Chief Executive Councillor Dr. Sonam Dawa, chaired the Working Committee Meeting of Leh District BJP. It was organized under District President Ganbo, which was attended by District Office Bearers and Working Committee Members.
Sat Sharma, while addressing the meeting, said that like many other states, the BJP has also become the largest political party in Jammu and Kashmir. During the last over two and half years, the party has polled record percentage of votes and won Parliament, Assembly and Ladakh Autonomous Hill development Council, which itself proves that the people across the state have realized that it is BJP only which really stands committed for the development and welfare without any discrimination. The repeated success of the party in all these elections is also due to the hard work and commitment of the workers, who deserve appreciation.
