Model Academy organises UN Mock Parliament session | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 25: Model Academy the prestigious school of MIER organized UN Mock Parliament Session to commemorate the UNO Day. Model United Nations (MUN) is a popular event among students in various countries. Students play roles of foreign diplomats and participate in a simulated session to develop solutions to world problems. It is aimed at providing students with a platform to develop leadership skills, effective communication, globalization, multilateral diplomacy and to voice international concerns while providing a valuable research and learning experience for all the students. Three delegates representing mock ambassadors of five countries including India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China & USA shared their views on the two burning issues of the present time, "World Peace and Drug Abuse". The students put forward their opinions and made assertive statements reflecting their point of view to resolve problems affecting almost every country on earth. Muskan Dhar of class XII represented India and was adjudged as the best speaker. The delegates representing India were ranked first in the session. Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER said that such events broadens one's perspective and offers a great learning experience. He appreciated the spirit of the participants and encouraged them to cover more ground in the coming future. Principal, Pramod Srivastava appreciated the efforts put in by the teachers of Social Science department, Poonam Gupta, Preeti Trisal and Samiksha Dhingra. While addressing the students he highlighted the importance of unity, harmony and team work by quoting that 'United we stand and divided we fall'. The event was a grand success. |
