Early Times Report
srinagar, Oct 25: The united face of the separatists in Kashmir was exposed among the masses on Tuesday when they spoke in different tones that too separately before the delegation led by BJP veteran Yashwant Sinha.
The delegation included Rtd. Air Vice Marchal Kapil Kak, Wajahat Habibullah, senior journalist Bharat Bushan and executive director of the Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation Sushooba Barve who in Srinagar met the Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani and chairman Hurriyat (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
The separatists met the delegation and presented their point of view about the current unrest in Valley that entered into day 109on Tuesday. The separatists who so far were seen issuing joint protest calendars and exhibiting a unanimous face preferred to meet the delegation separately and behind the closed doors.
Sources privy to this development revealed that even Geelani doesn't know what Mirwaiz told to the delegation and even Mirwaiz has no information about what Geelani demanded from them.
Reports say that JKLF chairman Yasin Malik too has decided to meet the delegation separately and present his point of view that possibly wouldn't be similar to that of the Geelani or Mirwaiz.
Meanwhile, the fissures within the separatist camp were seen widening as instead of presenting a joint memorandum to the delegation, they talk in contradictory tones. Reports inform that Mirwaiz pitched for unsealing of the historic Jamia Masjid and allow him to deliver sermon over there every Friday. On the other hand, Geelani spoke about his continuous house detention and about the arrest of his colleagues. According to reports, though Geelani and Mirwaiz spoke about the needed measures to douse the flames that have been engulfing this Himaliyan region since July 8, the duo put forward their point of view that wasn't similar to each other. "It revealed that the separatists are in no way united and what they were exhibiting till now was a mere mirage- they too are suffering from the identity crises and they showed it in bold and clear terms today while meeting a delegation," says a netizen.
Furthermore, in the evening when newspapers were expecting a joint statement, the party press notes were shot separately. As Geelani issued a separate handout and informed the press what happened during the meet, Mirwaiz addressed a separate press conference and briefed press about the recent developments.
