Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 25: The officials of Dharamsal police station have reportedly turned revengeful against the protesters, who were demanding a through probe of tractor driver's death-allegedly a murder- and after giving third degree torture of a youth, another youth was today picked from Kalakote hospital, probably for third degree torture. The protesters informed Early Times that on Tuesday afternoon, police sleuths visited Kalakote hospital, where Suneet Singh (local shopkeeper), son of Bichatar Singh was undergoing treatment, and suddenly picked him without showing any arrest warrant. "They dumped Suneet into the police van just like a sack and amid thrashing him, fled from the spot", sources said, adding that Suneet was among the Dharamsal people, who had lodged a protest demonstration on 21st of September, demanding a through probe into the death of a tractor driver (Ghashi), who was allegedly murdered on same day, but police had registered a case of accident. "On 22nd of September, people once against protested at Kalakote, demanding registration of murder case but the situation turned ugly, when Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nowhsera visited the spot. Instead of pacifying the people, the SDPO allegedly provoked people, by saying, "Accidents Hote Rehte Hain, Log Marte Rehte Hain", sources said. They further informed that the real sisters of the deceased strongly objected over the inhuman remark of SDPO. "The life of common man has no relevance for police and such arrogant response left infuriated the protesters, who started demanding investigation but in the meantime, a scuffle broke out between the wailing family and police, due to adamant attitude", sources said, adding that the other protesters also came in rescue of wailing family and a when police personnel started thrashing, pushing the protesters, the latter also pushed people. Sensing anger , the Police officials had fled from spot and to teach a lesson and satisfy their ego, they registered cases in Dharamsal Police Station and Kalakote Police station. "A case against six people was registered in PS Dharamsal and against 20 people in Kalakote under sections 341, 353, 336, 147, 504 RPC and similar sections have been imposed against all the people", sources said, adding that and now police has implicated all the protesters, either to satisfy their ego or with an aim to extract money. "This is general modus-operandi of Police officials to make fortunes by implicating large number of people in fake cases and whoever greases the palms of police Munshis or SHO or higher rung police officials, charges are simultaneously dropped", a lawyer said, adding that the police officials did it only to put onus of their failure on public. Meanwhile, Senior NC leader and former MLA Kalakote, Rash Pal Singh has criticized brutality of police. "It was failure of police to tackle, situation arisen in Kalakote, resulted a youth was mercilessly trashed inside the lock-up", Singh said, adding that unfortunately, concerned MLA, who a sitting Minister has no bother what is happening here since 21st October. "Inhuman of approach of police towards public will not be tolerated at any cost", he asserted. |
