People demand gallantry award for BSF martyr Gurnam Singh

Kathua, Oct. 27:A large number of people today came on road in support of recently martyred BSF soldier Gurnam singh who got head injury during cross border firing at Bobiya International Border few days back where he succumbed to injury at GMC Jammu. The public meeting was led by PDP District president Surinder Singh who supported the genuine demand of the public.
Tirth Singh, Ex sarpanch of Bobiya post, said," Gurnam singh was brave and amicable in nature who always talked about patriotism and Sacrifice for the safety of people of India," and added that Gurnam singh BSF Jawan deserved gallantry award as sacrificed his life to foil infiltration bid at Bobiya post.
The sarpanch said, " if government awards him posthumously, it would inspire many other local youths to join BSF and army for the protect of their people."
Ranjit Singh, a local youth was also in favor of honoring martyr Gurnam Singh and appealed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union Defence minister to recommend name for gallantry award. Surinder Singh, PDP president said ," Border people today paid tribute to BSF jawan who was familiar to them and got rich sacrifice to foil infiltration bid."
He was also in favor of gallantry award and ensured people to proceed with the matter to Chief minister of J&K. He said," PDP government launched Healing touch policy for surrendered militants and there must be huge ex-gratia for soldiers and their widowers who sacrifice their lives for the protection of the country that would develop patriotism among contemporary generation.
