Three dead while 34 other on board had miraculous escape as minibus turns turtle

Kishtwar Oct 27: Three persons were killed while 34 others traveling in a minibus had a miraculous escape as a minibus met with an accident in Tagood village of Kishtwar District when the occupants of ill-fated vehicle were returning from the holy pilgrimage to Sarthal Devi Mata temple.
As per the details available with "Early Times" 21 seater minibus bearing Registration No JK 17-3057 on its way to Tagood village of Kishtwar District with pilgrims who were on pilgrimage to Sarthal Devi Matta temple situated some 50 KM from village Tagood met with accident at Bandarkot when the driver of the vehicle lost his control over his speedy vehicle.
An eyewitness told the "Early Times" that five people were sitting on the roof top of the vehicle falls into the 300 feet deep gorge result resulting on spot death of three while 34 other passengers had a miraculous escape as one of the front tyre of the vehicle got stuck with a small boulders and stopped mini bus from rolling down into a deep gorge."
He said matter was brought into the notice of the police which immediately rushed to the spot and started rescue operation to trace out the missing persons.
Another eyewitness told the police that the driver was driving in high speed right from Sarthal village till he reached to Kishtwar.
Meanwhile a police party led by Dy SP HQ Kishtwar Touseef Rishu and SHO Sameer Jeelani immediately swung into action and with the help of high mast lights provided by the army retrieved bodies lying into 250 to 300 feet deep gorge.
Police and Army troopers of 11 RR and Red Cross volunteer Asgar Ali Sheikh carried out rescue operations for three hour long hectic operation and shifted injured and bodies to nearby District Hospital (DH) Kishtwar.
The deceased have been identified as Ashwani Kumar (17) s/s Shambu Nath of Kandna Tagood, Sanjay Kumar (20) s/o Sewa Ram Resident of Gangna Tagood and Deeraj Kumar (15) a 7th class student s/o Chuni Lal of Wasdevna Tagood. Sources added that Sanjay Kumar was married just few months ago and is survived by wife.
While talking to "Early Times" SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Kumar Wazir who also was present at accident spot said that police has registered an FIR against the driver of the vehicle. He added that both driver and the conductor have fled from the spot after the accident. "The driver of vehicle who is evading his arrest after the accident has been identified as Yasir Malik and manhunt has been launched to nab him, official added.
He also appreciated DySP Touseef Rishu and SHO Kishtwar Sameer Jeelani for acting swiftly and conducting a successful search cum rescue operation.
Meanwhile Minister of State for Transport Sunil Kumar Sharma along with Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ghulam Nabi Balwan also reached to the spot to take stock of ongoing rescue operation.
Minister while hailing the endevour of rescue teams, directed the police to take strict action against the traffic violators including against overloading.
