Early Times Report Rajouri, Oct 28: A retired bank manager has been booked by police for allegedly breaking the wall of a government primary school at Koteranka here with the intention of encroaching upon its land. The school, abandoned about 15 years ago after its upgradation, has been shifted to a new building. The house of Mohammad Bashir, a retired bank manager of Koteranka, adjoins the school premises. He was also alleged to have damaged the roof of one of the school rooms to include it in his building. "He chose Saturday night to demolish the school wall in order to avoid any action by the school authorities for Sunday being a holiday. The neighbours on Monday informed us and when we approached him, he refused to stop construction work on the encroached school land," school principal Mohammad Younis said. On October 24 last, the principal had approached the SDM who, in turn, had directed the tehsildar, Kotranka, to visit the spot and take necessary action. After spot inquiry, the Kandi police have registered a case against Bashir under sections 447, 427 and 379 of RPC. CEO Altaff Hussain on Thursday visited the spot along with the ZEO concerned and other senior officials of the department and prominent locals and asked police to take action against the encroacher. Further action would be taken on the basis of tehsildar's report, Kandi police station SHO Mohammad Jahangir said. |
