Early Times Report jammu, Oct 28: Going tough against 'rebellious' after Sidhra clash, higher authorities of Forest Department may demote the officials who were promoted on the basis of 'fake' degrees. Highly placed sources told Early Times that disregard of senior functionaries' of the department and scuffle between the official, in meeting called by Forest Minister, had left the authorities red-faced. "One can term the move as 'revenge' but there is no more option with the administration to teach 'uncivilized' officials who vandalized the venue of the meeting", said a top officer, wishing not to be named. The officer further said that who so ever disciplinary actions stand taken against officials. "But it is right time to mend past mistake. Predecessor had knelt down before hooliganism of several officials, who secured repeated promotions, by pressuring the authorities", the officer said and added that since the minister too has disillusioned with violent approach of the officials, the further could be warranted any when Darbar start functioning here at winter capital. "Initially, after the Sidhra episode, department had called police, however, latter departmentally actions were also taken", he said and added that common faces of hooliganism in the department placed under suspension. The officer further said that, showcause notice has been served to officials who had left the venue before arrival of the minister. "The administration dared to take action against the officials who purchased 'fake' degree and submitted for promotion, but due to unavoidable circumstances the action couldn't be materialized", they added. Without naming who wants to curb the menace in the department, sources said that the government has lambasted top bosses, alleged anarchy in the department. It is pertinent to mention here that on bases of fake degree, managed from unauthorized institutes/ study centres outside the state, those who were initially appointed as Malli, are holding the rank of Divisional Forest Officer (DFO). |
