Hurriyat banking on Yashwant Sinha for 'honourable' exit

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Dec 8: Desperate for a facing saving out of the current imbroglio which has made it a villain in the eye of the common Kashmiris, embarrassed Hurriyat leadership has approached the former Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha for another round of parleys to terminate five months old unrest in the valley.
It is only on their approaching him that Yashwant Sinha led panel, which though doesn't have any mandate of the government, is coming again to the valley.
"It is an acknowledged fact that Sinha doesn't have any official mandate. Had it been so, he would have atleast met some officials of The Home Ministry if not the PM Modi himself after his first visit to the valley. The fact that he has not been heard till now clearly establishes that government is not interested in it. But, on the contrary another meet with the separatists clearly establishes that he is being asked by the separatists to take them out of their self-created crisis," said senior home ministry official.
The separatists for the first time are being questioned by the people of the Kashmir for their five-month 'hostage'.
Just before the visit of the Sinha and his team, the separatists had assured 'security' to the tourists and yatris. The official sources said it is part of the plan to make a ground to appease the central government that they are now striking conciliatory notes.
"Sinha , even if doesn't have the mandate of the government, can alteast drop the views and their plan to get off the hartal programme to PM Modi. Separatists know this and they can use his position as being not part of the government to tell the Kashmiris that they are not dealing with the government .
It's a script written by the separatists as they have been clearly boxed to the corner and they are now banking on the Sinha and his team, though nothing substantial can come out more so soon. The Modi is paying them back on their own terms," said the official.
