Senior Police XI script wins in opening match

JAMMU, Jan 10: Senior Police XI registered emphatic wins to stay alive in the 3rd New Year Masters T20 Cricket Cup, which got underway at Parade Ground jammu, here today.
The tournament in which 6 teams are participating which includes Media XI, Sr.Police XI, Doordarshan XI,Parade Sports Association XI, Cant Cricket XI and Singh Akhnoor XI , is being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Transport Department, J&K under the supervision of Sunil Kumar Sharma Minister of Transport J&K
Earlier Sunil Kumar Sharma Minister of Transport J&K in presence of Vanita Gupta Transport Commissioner, Ajay Singh Jamwal Addl.Transport Commossioner, RK Bhat SSP ,Vikas Sharma Joint transport Commissioner, Addition Secretary Road Safety Abdul Rashid Fani, ,Dr.Vinod Kumar SP City, inaugurated the tournament in an impressive and colourful function.
While speaking on the occasion, Minister lauded the efforts of the organizing team in conducting the cricket event on the occasion of traffic week with the slogan " Derive carefully and to live Happily".
He further said that he feel happy to see Cricket Event also become the part of Traffic week in which masters of the cricket are participating in the event, he also appealed to the participant cricketers to teach the youngsters and every person known or related to them about the traffic guidance and traffic rules so that the rate of deaths in road accidents may be decreased .He later on congrats all the persons present on the occasion for celebrating the traffic week.
Earlier Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting Officer and Coordinator of the tournament presented the welcome address and give a brief note of the tournament.
Earlier, in the first match Sr.Police eleven defeated Jammu Media XI by 3 wickets . Batting first, Media Cricket XI scored 108 runs in stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 6 wickets, with Faheem Tak (25), Amit (21) and Jagdeep (16) being the main scorers. Arun took 3 wickets , while Shamsher Singh captured 2 wickets and RK Bhat also claimed one wicket .
Sr. Police XI, in reply achieved the target in 18 overs by losing 5 wickets and won the match by 5 wickets.
Tommorow Fixture : Parade Sports Association Versus Singh Akhnoor XI at 12.30 pm.
