BJP serious in testing electoral waters in valley
3/20/2017 11:13:44 PM
Early Times Report
jammu, Mar 20: The BJP contemplating contesting the bye-elections for the two seats in the valley. The sources said that the high command of the party is not averse to the proposal mooted by the state unit. The final decision will be taken very soon.
Source said that BJP is seriously thinking of contesting the elections. The party feels that it doesn't have much to lose but it could help in galvansing the party in the valley, where the party has long term plan.
"The Sangh is very much interested in the party contesting elections. The Sangh has been making efforts to build grass root level worker and the elections would help the party in understanding the fine tuning the party structure,:" said the soruces
There is also a view in the party that contesting elections would also send the signal that it's not subservient to the PDP and it not only retains its identity but is also serious about having long term political goal in the valley.
"The BJP had already suffered in the RS elections and despite being equal in the number a perception has gone around that it's playing second fiddle to the PDP, which is serious in strengtehing the party but the BJP is happy to be limited to Jammu. Contesting elections would correct this impression," said he sources.
Source said that after sweeping win the UP election and the appointment of Yogi Adityanath has also made the party believe that it can not only turned the things but can also get substantial votes of the Muslim community.
"The UP elections have also shattered the myth that Muslim are against the BJP. We couldn't have got this much mandate without the participation of the Muslims. So there is nothing wrong in contesting elections form the valley, we should go ahead for it." Said the leader
