Abdullahs call on Tariq Karra for Jaadu Ki Jhappi
3/21/2017 12:21:30 AM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Mar 20: In a dramatic development, former Chief Ministers and senior leaders of opposition National Conference, Dr Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah on Monday visited residence of their bête noire and former MP Tariq Hameed Karra ending years "animosity and leg-pulling" with a cordial bear-hug.
NC sources said Karra and his family were taken by surprise when the Abdullahs flanked by their close aide Nasir Aslam Wani entered his Shiv Pora residence.
Sources said the meeting started with a "Jaadu Ki Jhappi" from both sides. Pertinently Karra had started his political career from NC but following differences with the Abdullahs he had left the party to join PDP.
Sources said the meeting which lasted for over an hour saw the Abdullahs thanking Karra for showing a big heart in getting ready to campaign for Dr Abdullah who is contesting from Srinagar constituency for the upcoming Parliamentary by polls.
The seat fell vacant after Karra resigned from Parliament and PDP in summer of last year in protest against the "atrocious rule of the ruling PDP-BJP alliance."
Karra, who recently joined Congress, was being seen as the "best bet" for the seat owing to his influence
Burying hatchet!
It is for the first time in the past around a decade that Karra and the Adullahs spoke cordially. In the Parliament elections of 2014, Karra had defeated Dr Abdullah.
in the central Kashmir constituency, something which had left the Abdullah's apprehensive of their victory against the prospective heavyweight.
But showing magnanimity, the former MP chose to leave the field open for his bête noire. Sources in the NC said this gesture of his, made the NC leadership walk the extra mile.
Sources said at the meeting today, the two sides picked up the "old threads of friendship to discuss the good old days." Karra was later joined by his wife at the meeting.

Sources said Karra has agreed to campaign for Abdullah "only to keep the rightwing BJP and PDP and bay." "PDP and BJP are two sides of RSS coin so we have to fight them out with unity because strength lies in unity," sources said the meeting resolved.
Meanwhile sources said the PDP has "replanted its mole who claims to be loyalist of many including Naeem Akhter and Muzaffar Hussain Beg in the Karra's den." "We know how to fetch andar ki baat," said a PDP leader.
Despite repeated attempts Karra and the Abdullahs couldn't be contacted for comments.
