Early Times Report

Udhampur, Mar 20: A young man, who risked his life for the country and captured a terrorist alive, has been running from pillar to post to make his ends meet.
Vikramjeet, who was awarded Shaurya Chakra--an Indian military decoration awarded for valour, courageous action or self-sacrifice ---while talking to Early Times said, "When I captured the terrorist alive that time State as well as Central Government promised government job and reward money but till date I have neither got the reward money nor the job."
"I am thankful to President of India for giving me country's third highest gallantry award Shaurya Chakra but award cannot feed anyone's family," he added.
Vikramjeet's wife, Shoba Devi said, "We are living in my parental home. When my husband captured the terrorist everyone praised him and promised moon and stars. It's unfortunate that all those promises remained confined to papers only. Today we are dependent on our parents for two square meals."
It is in place to mention here that
What a pity!
We are living in my parental home. When my husband captured the terrorist everyone praised him and promised moon and stars. It's unfortunate that all those promises remained confined to papers only. Today we are dependent on our parents for two square meals.
on August 5, 2015, terrorists opened fire at convoy of the Border Security Force (BSF) on Jammu- Srinagar highway at Narsoo Nallah near Samroli in Udhampur district.
After opening fire one of the terrorists was killed on the spot by security forces and other managed to escape. He took a few people as hostages in Chirdi Village. The terrorist on the gunpoint was forcing his hostages to help him escape from that area. But two local youth, Vikramjeet and Rakesh Kumar Sharma, without caring for their lives overpowered the terrorist, who was later identified as Naved Yakub of Pakistan, and captured him alive.
After showing exemplary courage and bravery Jammu and Kashmir Police recommended the names of two brave hearts for the 'Shaurya Chakra' gallantry medal. Both Vikramjeet and Rakesh received 'Shaurya Chakra' on Independence Day. But after that Vikramjeet was left at God's mercy. "It's unfortunate that in BJP- Raaj, which takes about nationalism and patriotism a brave son of the soil has been forgotten," said a local resident Hem Raj.
