Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 20: Demanding development of infrastructure in villages in Jammu region, Citizens' Forum president and former PDP state treasurer, R K Chadha has stated that top priority of the administrators should be to provide the villages and rural areas with bare minimum facilities before dreaming for projects like smart city.
In a press release, issued here today, Chadha said, "I have requested both - the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti that smart city for Jammu should wait. First develop the villages of Jammu with bare minimum infrastructure required by the poor people for their day to day needs."
"Jammu Province has already suffered discrimination in development of projects. First the basic need projects be adopted then we can think of a smart city. Jammu city as well as the villages does not have proper drinking water, medical, transport, power, facilities."
The release quoting Chadha also says, "One wonders how a PA of a former Dy. Chief Minister has become Rs.1000 crores worth honourable citizen of this state.
Jammu first require Tourism infrastructure which gets only 10% development funds for 1.25 crore visitors as against 10 lakh tourists with 40000 foreigners only, gets 90% of allotted funds. Jammu needs much more than a smart city.
Jammu & Kashmir both require Jobs for the young unemployed boys some among those are forced to throw stones at Army in Kashmir, Chadha asserted.
