Out of 40 marks for interview, candidate gets 41, many not called for interview

Jammu, Apr 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has come under scanner for selection of Plus-2 Lecturers in Commerce, as some candidates were given 41 marks out of 40 in interview, but those having secured highest marks in written examination as per lists uploaded on website, were not even called for interviews.
Secretary of JKPSC said that there was a typing error in the roll numbers uploaded on the website, which caused confusion.
The candidates who appeared for written examination for 17 posts of Commerce, took to social media to vent their anger against the Commission, after they cross checked various notifications uploaded on the website of Commission including interview-call notification, selection list and list showing marks of candidates in written exam.
"2986 applications were received for 17 posts, out of which 2468 appeared in written test on 26/6/2016. The result was declared on April 2nd 2017 in pursuance of Rule 32(a) of JKPSC and only 60 candidates were declared to have qualified written test and called for interview", the candidates said, adding that the final selection was to be made on the basis of Rule 51 of JKPSC (Business & Procedure) Rules, 1980.
Final selection list was announced on 18/4/2017 along with list showing marks obtained by candidates in written examination in annexure C to notification no. 19-PSC (DR-S).
Preeti Slathia, Roll number 4901772 who is at S.No. 1 in the final selection list has scored only 29.492 in the written test whereas the cut-off' points for the short listing for interview were 40.169. Another girl Aimer Sama, Roll No. 4902179 who is at S No. 5 in the final selection list scored only 26.441 in written test, the candidates said, adding that to their utter shock candidate under roll number 4902157 topped the written test by scoring 46.271 but was not called for interview.

The candidates who appeared for written examination for 17 posts of Commerce, took to social media to vent their anger against the Commission, after they cross checked various notifications uploaded on the website of Commission including interview-call notification, selection list and list showing marks of candidates in written exam.
the marks, Preeti Slathia, has got 41.228 marks in interview out of 40 points and out of 60, she has got 29.492, which become 70.72 points and she topped the selection list, the candidates said.
Similarly, Aimer Sama (4902179) 26.441 points in written test, 34.559 out of 25 points, they said, alleging that Aimer Sama is a recent pass out from Kashmir university, having no publication or research experience that means her assessment was purely on 25 points of viva-voce but to our surprise she is scoring 34.559 out of 25 points.
Moreover, Amir Nazir with roll number 492177 scored 33.559 points in written test while 25.461 out of 25 points, they alleged, adding that many other candidates who have topped the merit list were not even called for the interview. Those who were not called for interview are Roll number 4902157 with 46.271 points, roll number 4902159 got 44.746 marks in written test, roll number 4901577 secured 42.712 in written test, roll number 4901582 got 41.186 in written test but all were not called for the interview by JKPSC.
Moreover, there were many candidates such as bearing roll numbers 4902157, 4902159, 4901577, 4901580, 4901876, who had crossed the cut-off merit but still were not called for the interview, they said.
They further said their apprehensions were vindicated as one candidate, who had topped SET examination (Commerce) in 2013, qualified NET twice and in one of the exams crossed the JRF slab besides also qualified SET in Management as well having ample teaching experience, but his score in written test was very low. "It is my firm belief that the key with PSC is faulty and it should be made public", aspirant said,
Secretary of JKPSC Shakeel-Ur-Rehman said that there was typing error in the roll numbers uploaded on 4th of April 2017, according to which candidates were called for interviews, which would be rectified soon and a corrigendum would be issued.
