Rajouri, Sept 13: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Rajouri and Poonch organized a District Level workshop on Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (DEDS) at Rajouri. The workshop was chaired by Dr. D.B. Singh, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Rajouri.
Des Raj District Development Manager, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Rajouri and Poonch explained the participants that the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, (DAHD&F), Government of India is implementing Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (DEDS) and NABARD has been entrusted with responsibility of subsidy channel partner. The scheme is a credit linked subsidy scheme which aims at generation of self employment through setting up of modern dairy farms for production of clean milk. It also aims to bring structural changes in the unorganized sector so that initial processing of milk can be taken up at the village level itself. The beneficiaries can set up dairy units ranging from two animals to ten animals @ Rs. 60,000/= per animal. The scheme also carries a subsidy component of 25% for General Category and 33.33% for SC/ST category. Apart from that the scheme has components for Purchase of Milking machine, bulk milk cooling units, Purchase of dairy processing equipment, transportation of milk products, setting up of Veterinary Clinics etc.
