Close shave for students after class ceiling collapses at Boys Hr Sec School Nowshera

Rajouri, Sept 23: The Students of 9th class at Boys Higher Secondary School Nowshera had a narrow escape today when an old and decayed ceiling collapsed during class hours.
It is to mention here the room is being used as a relief camp for the border dwellers and during day time school administration conduct classes in the room due to shortage of class rooms.
School administration said that at about 11 am when the 9th class students were studying, a portion of the old and broken ceiling fell down on the students.
Six students were injured in the incident and were immediately taken to Community Health Centre by the school administration.
Meanwhile, on getting information of the incident, tehsildar and Deputy CEO also rushed to the hospital where doctor informed that all the students are out of danger and responding to the treatment.
School sources said that the ceiling of almost all the class rooms of the school is old and needs immediate repairs/ renovation. In future such incident can't be ruled out with more injuries to the students or to the migrant families.
"The matter has been taken up with the Chief Education Officer as the class rooms needs immediate repairing of the ceiling, doors and windows panes. Major tragedy can take place at any time in the future also" said Ashok Kumar Principal.
"The department will first initiate inquiry into the incident as the ceiling was installed only four years ago by the PWD (R&B). As informed by the principal that ceiling in other rooms is also in not in a good position, Deputy Commissioner will be approached to release funds for immediate repairs of the ceilings" said CH Lal Hussain, CEO.
