Kathua lifts U-19 girl's tennis ball cricket title

Jammu, Sept 23: District Kathua lifted the title of U-19 years Girls Tennis Ball Cricket in Inter District Division Level tennis ball cricket tournament by 2-1. The tournament is being organised by the department of Youth Services and Sports Kathua here at sports stadium kathua under the overall supervision of DYSSO Subash Chander Bhardwaj and convener ship of ZPEO Rajesh Kumar. District Samba and Kathua participated in the competitions in which a total of 24 players took part. The tournament was held on Best of Three basis in which three matches were played between two teams. In First and opening match, Kathua made 63 runs in prescribed 8 overs by losing 3 wickets and Samba achieved the target by 1 wicket in 6th over. In second match, Kathua elected to field and Samba made 52 runs in 8 overs by lossing 1 wicket. Kathua in reply, made 54 runs in 7.2 overs and won the match by 8 wickets.
In third and final match, Samba elected to field after winning toss. Kathua while batting first collected 97 runs in 10 overs by loosing 2 wickets. Preety Jasrotia of Kathua made 36 runs in 25 ball with 5 boundaries and remain not out. Sapna of Samba clinched 2 wickets by giving 31 runs in 3 overs. In reply, Samba can collect only 73 runs by loosing 4 wickets in 10 overs. Nekha of Samba made 31 runs in 23 balls with 6 boundaries. However, Samba lost the match by 24 runs. Kulbhushan Singh, Tarsem Lal, Omkar Singh officiated the matches and Kajal.
