Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 23: Swine flu has already claimed 2 lives and two are suspected of having swine flu. Nine more positive cases have been reported in Jammu province but Directorate Health Service Jammu has failed to set up special screening cells at entrance to screen passengers, who are coming from virus affected States.
Pertinently, in 2015, 109 cases of Swine Flu were detected in the State with 16 deaths till 20 March.
As per officials figure, out of 52 samples, 9 cases have been found positive for swine flu in which 4 cases reported from Jammu, one from Kathua, Rojouri each and 2 from Udhampur district when the last report came in.
Officials told that it appears that higher officials of cornered department didn't learn lessons from deaths due to swine flu in other states and are waiting for a mishap to occur. It shows the lethargic approach of the concerned.
They alleged that the officials of the State Health Department have not issued any advisory as well as failed to notify officials of Jammu Railway Station, Jammu Airport and Lakhanpur to screen passengers, who are coming from the affected states to report at the health cell located at entrance points.
Director, Airport Authority of India, Jammu D K Goutam told that already existing medical team is screening passengers but no special cell has been set up by DHS Jammu so far.
When contacted Director Health Services, Jammu Dr Gurjeet Singh said that advisory has been issued to all and required steps are being taken by the hospitals as well as higher ups of the concerned department.
