JAMMU, Oct 25: The Chief Education Office (CEO) Jammu has virtually become a den of influential teachers, as more than 100 teachers got themselves attached with the office in last few years.
Time and again government had issued orders for cancellation of attachment of teaching faculty. But these orders are seldom honoured by the authorities concerned.
"The teaching faculty having closeness with politicians and bureaucrats made their attachment in office or city schools of Jammu and Srinagar for years", sources said. They said not only teachers, around 80 lecturers and more than 250 masters also made their attachment in various government city schools, offices of Jammu district.
It is pertinent to mention here that a year back incumbent government asked both directors of School Education department to submit monthly consolidated details of attachment in their respective divisions to administrative department. The detached teachers, masters and lecturers were also asked to report back to their original place of posting. Nothing was done at ground level, though.
"Instead of taking action against surplus (attached) teaching faculty, the administration of Chief Education Officers and Director School Education draw salary. On the other hand, there are hundreds of schools located in rural areas which have vacant posts of teachers," sources said, adding that it seems that influential are ruling the roost while ordinary teachers who don't have any access to higher ups are bearing the brunt.
