Reasi patients suffer as 'influential' employees enjoy attachment at CMO office
Nursing orderlies, Health Educator working as clerks without vacancy
12/6/2017 11:00:34 PM
Early Times Report

Reasi, Dec 6: Even as patients visiting health centers here often face inconvenience due to the shortage of healthcare staff, four such "influential" employees who should have been serving in the field are posted at the office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Reasi.Officials said three nursing orderlies, actually posted at health centers in "far flung areas" are illegally attached at the office of the CMO though there are no such vacancies at this office. "One such nursing orderly was actually posted twenty miles away from his residence but in order to help the orderly the CMO illegally attached him at this office," the officials said. Sources said the nursing orderlies were doing clerical job when they were actually supposed to be doing paramedic work at health centers.
"When the CMO misuses the skilled human resource, the plight of healthcare facilities in the district can only be imagined," the sources said.
As if the "illegal attachment" of the nursing orderlies was not enough, the CMO has also attached a Health Educator at his office.
"The Health Educator who was supposed to do counseling in the field is working as an influential right hand clerk of the CMO whereas the actual clerk posted at this office is made to do menial jobs," the sources said.
Interestingly, there's even no vacancy for the post of Health Educator at the office of the CMO.
The Health Educator has been posted at the office for the past over five years.
"All these attachments have been made illegally only because these beneficiaries enjoy political and other influence including the ashirwadh of the CMO who has some underhand de aling with them," the sources alleged.
But the concerned CMO declined to comment on the issue. "You better talk to minister sahib in this regard," the CMO said.
Despite repeated attempts the Health Minister couldn't be contacted for comments.
