JAMMU, Jan 12: The government of Jammu and Kashmir today stated that 747 domestic violence cases were registered in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in last two years which include 348 cases in 2016 and 399 cases in 2017.
In response to question of of NC Legislator Mubarak Gul, the state government said that among the 22 districts of the state, Jammu District tops the list with 93 and 65 cases respectively in the year 2016 & 2017 followed by Srinagar 42 & 55 cases, Rajouri 39 & 41, Udhampur 28 & 41, Leh and Kargil Districts of Ladakh Division records zero registration of Domestic violence cases.
In response to another question, the government informed 552 persons were detained under PSA during 2016 and all of them have been released. Similarly, in the year, 2017,201 persons were detained under PSA, out of which 124 persons have been released and 77 are still under preventive detention.
The government further stated that 9042 injuries were reported during Kashmir unrest which include 6621 pellet injuries and 782 eye injuries. The government stated that it had provided the compensation to 54 pellet related injured persons which includes in terms of Government Order No. 61 home of 2017 Dated 27-1-2017.
