Chaos within R&B props out in LA; Minister presents wrong information to House
1/24/2018 12:30:20 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 23: Shabby functioning of the state R&B and confusion of the Minister incharge were brazenly exposed in Jammu and Kashmir's legislative assembly when wrong details were submitted about the macadamisation of the roads in JK.
Meanwhile, by furnishing wrong and misleading information in the House, the Minister concerned manifested the state of affairs within his department.
Red faced after being cornered from all sides over projecting wrong information in the house about the macadamisation of the roads, the minister had to admit the mistake. The R&B minister in the end admitted errors in the figures given by the government following which Deputy Speaker Assembly Nazir Gurezi directed the government to take stringent action against the officer responsible for projecting incorrect figures .
Meanwhile, the minister incharge is facing dissent and anguish from the opposition as well as treasury benches for providing misleading information, which had embarrassed the government in the House.
"The grave lapse has taken the lid off the state of affairs within the department and inefficiency of the Minister. The minister has no qualification to keep holding the portfolio. He was a simple government official who due to his close proximity was elevated to such a vital position. He has nothing to lose as he has nothing at stake. He will not face people during polls as he has no political constituency. But the way he is damaging the image of the government is worrisome and merits action without delay," said a legislator of the ruling party.
Pertinently, after the cabinet revamp on February 18, last year, two ministers resigned from their respective portfolios. After much deliberation, the duo was asked to re-join. Later on, both the ministers joined offices and retained their respective portfolios. There was resentment within the party against the incumbent R&B Minister and some leaders appealed to the Chief Minister to keep the minister in question off the important portfolio.
