Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 14: In yet another act of discrimination against Jammu, the government has decided to introduce tourism as a subject in seven degree colleges of Kashmir.
Sources informed Early Times that the previous as well as incumbent government of state had introduced Tourism subject one after other in Degree colleges of Kashmir division including GDC Tangmarg, GDC Sopore, GDC Nawa Kadal, GDC Magam, Amar Singh College, GDC Khanabal, Anantnag and GDC Kokernag. They said Jammu colleges are still waiting for introduction of the subject.
"The government claims that Jammu has vast potential of tourism and it's the only industry that helps to reduce unemployment," sources said, adding that no doubt government establishes dozens of tourism development authorities in Jammu division but they only benefit students from Kashmir as they have experience and knowledge of the subject. The Jammu people have taken serious note of what they called failure of the incumbent government to safeguard interests of Jammu region. They have been accused of robbing Jammu division of its due share in education and employment.
"In upcoming years government will create hundreds of jobs in this particular field. At that time youth from Jammu will have no experience of the subject and the credit will go to students from Kashmir', sources said, accusing the government of nurturing regional bias.
The Kashmir based leadership knows that after completion of major tourism projects in Jammu division government creates bulk of posts for these destinations and at that time it will be benefited for only Kashmir youth because Jammu have lack of professional qualification on particular field.
