Another separatist unity in offing as Hilal War offers hand of friendship to Yasin Malik
2/18/2018 11:12:14 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 18: In an unprecedented move, separatist leader Hilal Ahmed War, who is seen as arch-rival of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front, Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, on Sunday offered a hand of friendship to the JKLF chief.
War, who heads the Peoples Political Party had a meeting with Malik at SKIMS Soura where the latter is admitted for medical treatment. It's for the first time that War called on Malik, as otherwise the two, both residents of Maisuma, are seen at "dagger's drawn with each other." Sources said the meeting between War and Malik lasted for over half-an-hour and that the two discussed situation in Kashmir and need for unity. Sources said the two groups are likely to operate united in the coming days. Sources said in the wake of National Investigation Agency (NIA) having tightened noose around hawala funding, the separatists want to remain a "united house." "Each of them is apprehensive of being arrested by the NIA because all of them have been minting fortune out of hawala money, so in this hour of crises they want to be united than get caught," said a source close the separatist quarters. There has been an unprecedented unity among the separatists since June 2017 when the NIA started raids on the Hawala operators. Till now, at least nine separatist leaders and some businessmen have been arrested in connection with the terror funding case while most of them have been detained at Tihar jail in the national capital.
Sources said War told Malik that it was better to be "one voice than rot at Tihar jail." Much like the animosity between Malik and War, even Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq had been at loggerheads but two opted for unity. As of now, Malik, Geelani and Mirwaiz are united through the so called Joint Resistance Leadership whereas War is likely to join them.
