PDP divided on Government spokesman's China remarks!
Nayeema launches veiled attack on Naeem
2/21/2018 11:21:50 PM
Early Times Report
srinagar, Feb 21: A day after the government spokesman and PWD Minister Naeem Akhter dropped a bombshell saying that China was now a "major factor in Kashmir issue", his own Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) colleague Nayeema Ahmad Mehjoor launched a veiled attack on him.
Nayeema, who is also the Chairperson of the State Women's Right Commission, took to social media to vent out her feelings. "China has one objective: to become dominating economy and rule world markets. Visit Europe/ US/ South East Asian shops. Better read its economic reach," she posted on Facebook.
While Naeem is known for his "controversial remarks" on Kashmir, it's an open secret that the first criticism often comes from his party colleagues.
On February 10, a New Delhi based newspaper had quoting Naeem saying that "Beijing has adopted Jaish-e-Muhammad."
"The Kashmir issue isn't limited to the fight between India and Pakistan now. There is another major factor involved. It isn't Pakistan alone, it is China too. General (Bipin Rawat) said that the Army is ready to fight on both fronts. But there aren't two fronts anymore. Now it is one single front, circling around. From Bhutan to Arunachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Valley to Jammu, Sri Lanka and Maldives, it is all one front. Pakistan and China aren't separate," Naeem said.
While his remarks triggered a political storm, former Chief Minister and National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah asked New Delhi to clear its position on the revelations as made by Naeem.
It was reliably learnt that the PDP is divided on Naeem's statement and has asked him to clear his position. "Such an immature statement at this critical juncture has only added to the challenges which the party is confronting to restore peace in the region. Ideally, blaming Pakistan was enough and logical but his China angle will add to chaos," said a PDP leader on the condition on anonymity.
Despite repeated attempts, Nayeema couldn't be contacted for comments.
