Two persons killed, two suffered injuries in Mudslide in Kupwara-Bandipora road

KUPWARA, Feb 24: Due to incessant rains from today early morning, two persons were killed and one person suffered injuries after they came under a mudslide at Lashkote forest area of Dardpora viilage in Lolab area of this north Kashmir district.
Reports said that trio had gone for hunting and came under mudslide this afternoon at Lashkote- the top forest area of Darpora which connects Lolab and Bandipora forest areas.
However sources said that two persons lost their lives that were identified as Bashir Ahmed S/o Ghulam Rasool R/0 Dardpora, Ghulam Mohd Lone S/o Ali Mohd R/o Vernoo.
While as two persons were rescued alive and shifted to hospital who were identified as Zameer Ahmed S/o Mohammed Syed and Mohammed Akbar S/o Abdul Subhan of Kupwara.
However when Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara Shamsheer Hussain was contact he said that, there are reports that three persons are missing as the mudslide has occurred in some Bohipora area that connects Kupwara-Bandipora road. Due to continuous rain from yesterday midnight, it was difficult to locate them as the area is said to be hilly and the terrain is also difficult, however he said that, there is no confirmation about the causalities yet, SSP told early times. SSP said that so far we have received information that three persons were trapped in the incident and a police party has been deputed to the area to launch the rescue operation.
Tomorrow morning we will start further rescue operations, as local have rushed to the area and launched operation to evacuate the missing persons, SSP added.
It is learnt that Lashkote is the top forest area of Dardpora connecting Kupwara-Bandipora areas where the mudslide occurred.
