Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 13: The BJP high command has taken strong objection to the sudden and abrupt sacking of Haseeb Drabu by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. The sources said that BJP sees it as silencing the voices which were trying to change the narrative in the Kashmir, a long term plan of the BJP.
Taken aback by the sudden development, the BJP has ensured that the person assuming the charge had some strong links with New Delhi and it is for this reason that Altaf Bukhari was given additional charge of the Finance department.
"Drabu was the pointman in the PDP-BJP alliance. He got GST implemented in the state and that too in a manner that he respected the separate identity of the state by getting it implemented later than rest of the country. He is the person who had also tried to change the narrative by saying that it's not just a political issue but a social issue as well and the Kashmir as a society has to talk about it. It was important statement and it should have generated debate but sacking him has killed it in the bud and this is not acceptable," said the senior BJP leader.
According to sources, BJP was quick to step in when the announcement was made and the party got the man who it feels could atleast carry forward the agenda pursued in bringing a long change in the valley.
"Bukhari has strong connections in the Delhi, He is in constant touch with the one of the top ministers of the Modi government who has a major say in the state. It's for these reasons he was first dropped from the ministry and then reinstated and now he got the prime job and it could not have been possible without the hand of the someone holding power in Centre," said the senior BJP minister.
