Early Times Report

Srinagar, Apr 15: Reacting sharply to former BJP minister Lal Singh's comment that he was sent to Kathua by the party to defuse tension, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah asked 'how inciting the local people for protesting and threatening the police against making any arrests which was meant to defuse tension'.
Senior BJP leader Singh and another former minister attended a rally organized by Hindu Ekta Manch outfit in favour of accused in Kathua minor rape and murder case, attracting severe criticism from all the sections of society, including opposition parties, from across the country.
Forest Minister Lal Singh and Industries Minister Chandra Prakash Ganga resigned amid outrage over their support for the men accused of raping and murdering the 8-year-old girl in Kathua.
"I don't understand how inciting the local people for protesting & threatening the police against making any arrests was meant "to defuse tension"," Mr Abdullah, who is the working president of National Conference (NC), wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
Mr Singh and Mr Ganga had addressed a rally organised by Hindu Ekta Manch on March 1 in support of the rape and murder accused.
During the rally, Mr Singh had said, "Why such a hullabaloo on the death of this one girl... many such girls have died here." Meanwhile, Ganga had termed the arrest of the men as 'jungle raj'.
However, soon after submitting his resignation, Mr Singh told a national TV channel that they went to Kathua to defuse tension created due to migration.
