Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 22: PDP District President Kishtwar Sheikh Nasir Hussain today suspended its senior party leader Abdul Wahid from the party and forwarded his case to party's disciplinary committee for further action.
Talking to Early Times PDP District President Kishtwar confirmed that Wahid has been suspended from the party for his anti party activities till the party disciplinary committee decides his fate. He said that the block committee Marwah has submitted various complaints against him for his anti party activities. "In fact we are with the people of Marwah over this issue" said Sheikh.
Addressing a joint Press Conference with the people of Marwah the suspended PDP leader said that being as a party of ruling party, he was not sure that government will give any kind of concrete assurance to them over the issue added that he and his party raise the issue of Budsar Power Project with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti not once but at least four times.
He said that the public hearing conducted by the NHPC few months back at Marwah has failed as people of the area were not taken on board. He said that the administration and the NHPC told them that only Hanzal and Deherna villages will be submerged which is not the case as whole Marwah is united against the construction of the Dam. He said that since last 20 days people were on hunger strike added that after falling ill, one person was shifted to Kishtwar Hospital. He said that the people are demanding that CM should visit the area and showed his concern towards non serious approach of the local party MLC. "Isn't our MLC Firdous Ahmed Tak our representative-is this not his responsibility to visit the area and talk to people--Had we not work hard for his election in which he gets more votes from Marwah as compared to Kishtwar" said Wahid. He said that the people in the party are watching as mute spectator and urged upon the government to understand the sensitivity of the issue and take it seriously otherwise they will left with no other option other than to resign from the party. Speaking to Early Times Wahid said that he had no intimation from the party leadership and he came to know about its suspension through social media and cannot confirm its authenticity till he receive official and written communication from the party. Political and Social Activist Ghulam Rasool Magrey said that the people of Marwah had approached the High Court over the issue adding that they are hopeful for hearing in this regard in next few days.
He said that scores of villages including Hatri, Hanzal, Harji, Gujjer Basti, Bumbri, Doripath, Butpora, Lone Pora, Manzgam and Astangam would get submerged in dam waters.
He said that there is a conspiracy against the people of Marwah adding that the people in government instead of taking necessary action with regard to cancellation of Budsar project are talking about approaching the court. He asked the PDP MLC to deceit from playing politics over the issue. He said that people of Marwah are ready to scarify its lives.
