4-yr-old boy killed by leopard in Rajouri

Rajouri, May 16: A leopard mauled a four-year-old boy early morning in Ghaluti village of Rajouri district today.
The boy, identified as Mohd Usman s/o Mohammed Aziz Mirza, was playing outside the house when the leopard hiding in the bushes near attacked him and dragged him to some distance.
The cries raised by the boy alerted the family members and villagers who rushed to the spot and chased the beast away.
The boy was rescued by the villagers from the clutches of the wild beast and was rushed to Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Manjakot where he succumbed to injuries.
After legal formalities police have handed over the body to legal heirs for the last rites of the boy. People of the area have demanded suitable compensation for the family.
The villagers have also demanded deployment of wild life team in their area so that the leopard may not strike again.
